BLIK Romania, registered in Bucharest, has obtained authorization for the operation of the BLIK payment system. This decision will enable the development of this system in local currency (RON) and open it to Romanian payment service providers. As a first step, the operator plans to focus on the development of payments in the e-commerce channel, thus responding to the dynamic growth of the online sector in Romania.
The BLIK system has completed all implementation work and is now available to Tatra banka customers. Slovak users of the Tatra banka VIAMO mobile app are the first to have the ability to make convenient, fast, and secure mobile payments using a six-digit code for online shopping. From now on, this feature will allow online shoppers in Slovakia to perform easier and online transactions directly from their phones. Thanks to partnership with PayU, a leading online payment service provider in CEE, the first online stores in Slovakia have already made the BLIK payment method available for their customers.
In the first half of the year, BLIK continued to experience significant growth in transaction volume. During just six months, users completed more than 1.1 billion transactions through the system – this is an increase of 40% compared to the same period last year. From January to June this year, the highest percentage growth in transaction volume occurred in the POS segment, where BLIK payments increased by 58% compared to the first half of 2023. Users made 258 million transactions in this channel, and more than 100 million of them were contactless payments. Nevertheless, online payments still accounted for the largest share of total transactions, representing nearly 49% of all BLIK payments.
BLIK SK, formerly known as VIAMO, is consistently expanding its operations in the Slovak market. Following the expansion of its collaboration with Tatra banka, the company is strengthening its ties with another dynamic bank operating in Slovakia. The goal of the partnership with mBank SK is the full integration of BLIK into the mobile application of this institution, providing customers with secure and convenient mobile payments for online shopping.
Worldline (Euronext: WLN), the global leader in payment services, in continued cooperation with BLIK, one of Poland’s most popular mobile payment systems, is rolling out for its clients the functionality of BLIK code payment on Worldline Tap on Mobile app. Under the partnership, businesses using Tap on Mobile on their mobile terminals will be able to accept payments with a BLIK code.
BLIK, a modern payment system from Poland, Aion Bank and Vodeno, a provider of advanced financial technology, have formed a strategic partnership. This cooperation will enable both Vodeno and Aion Bank, which participates in the BLIK system as an issuer, to offer fintechs, banks and other financial institutions access to BLIK services.
